So our family was really excited about this! Ok, so it's not #1, but that's because #1 is obviously Diamond, but to be the #2 most popular gemstone (British girl's) in Great Britain is pretty awesome! This was shown in a report by UK online jewellers Gemporia.
Gemporia asked 1,866 women (ages 18 to 80, so a wide range!) all across Great Britain what their favorite gemstones were. While 22% of the women chose Diamond as the #1 choice, the 2nd most popular was Tanzanite, and they even said 3/10 women in Wales had Tanzanite and the #1 gemstone!
Want more data? Ok! Out of all of Great Britain, Tanzanite received 16% of the vote, again right behind Diamond. But in South and South-West of England, Tanzanite was voted the #1 gemstone. Want some other winners? Emerald is Britain’s third most popular gem (10%) followed by Opal (8%) and Sapphire (8%). Many of these types of gemstones were chosen because it was their birthstone as well.
While Tanzanite is a "newer" gemstone than Diamond, what is causing this popularity? Many celebrities are pushing the way. Penelope Cruz, Cate Blanchett, Beyonce, Anne Hathaway and the Duchess of Cambridge have all been photographed many times wearing the beautiful Tanzanite gemstone in rings, pendants and earrings. But the big reason women stated that they loved the gemstone? Because of the amazing violet-blue color.
Here is the USA, Tanzanite is our best selling gemstone. You may think it is our only gemstone, but we actually have over 1,000 gemstones at our store, and only a fraction are Tanzanite. But no matter what you are looking for, in whatever country you are looking for it, we can get it and ship it anywhere around the world.
Thank you,
The Moriarty Family
